ROCK SOLID

by Min. Kevin Bright

[Mat 7:24-25 KJV] 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Storms can be a scary thing. Howling winds, torrential downpours, thunder and lightning. I have seen enough storms to know the devastation they can render on neighborhoods and the lives there. If homes were built in a flood plain, more havoc can occur to residents who have literally lost all they valued. Seemingly shipwrecked and downtrodden, everything you worked hard for can be lost in an instant to nature's fury.

In this scripture, I've noticed something that God is highlighting for me. I CAN BE THAT STORM. Say what? Yeah...something that few of us have stopped to consider is all of the opinions, feelings, emotions, bad advice and assumptions are like all the elements of a storm. They move in, begin the batter and beat the place you're sheltered (God's word is a fortress), creating real trials that you didn't really expect to deal with. Anyone or anything that exalts itself against the knowledge of God endeavors to take the peace God affords by His spirit, and His word, which is spirit and life. At the center of great storms, you can find an eye...a place in the midst where peace prevails. No winds, rain, or anything to beat against your home. That eye is like the word hidden in our hearts. When we dare to trust God beyond our own interpretations of the life we have been given, we will find God's way steadies us. Jesus spoke to the storm and it ceased. "What manner of man is this?" the disciples pondered.

God and His word is a sure foundation that nothing can prevail against. Much like a good house built on a solid rock, you can have that peace that surpasses all understanding. Decimate words that only lead to more questioning. Will you speak what God is saying against the storms of words you have taken as true? Now is the time for us to begin to walk out what's within us, by faith. The spirit of fear cannot live where God reigns. Be still and know He's God...Jesus is a rock and foundation all by Himself.
